The Canadian Mental Health Association, Simcoe County Branch (CMHA SCB) will benefit from funds raised through Hockey Talks, a community fundraising event hosted by the AAA Barrie Colts U16 and U18 teams.
The event takes place on Wednesday, January 28th at the Peggy Hill Community Centre and will feature two games, with the U16 matchup starting at 6:00 p.m., followed by the U18 game at 8:00 p.m. A minimum donation of $10 is requested at the door, with proceeds supporting local mental health and addiction programs and services.
Hockey Talks brings together sport and community to raise awareness about mental health and addiction while helping reduce stigma. As part of the initiative, CMHA SCB has provided mental health and addiction education to all participating players to support awareness and understanding within the local hockey community.
Attendees will also have the chance to win prizes, including AirPods Pro and two Toronto Maple Leafs tickets. CMHA SCB staff will be onsite to share information about available mental health and addiction supports in Simcoe County.
The event is open to the public and encourages community members to attend, support local athletes, and contribute to mental health initiatives in the region.
