A community discussion aimed at encouraging open and thoughtful conversations about death is coming to Georgetown next month.
The Townsend Smith Foundation is hosting another Death Café following the success of its previous session, inviting residents to take part in a group-directed discussion where participants can explore their thoughts, feelings and experiences around death in a respectful and relaxed setting. It’s designed to normalize conversations about death, a universal experience that is often avoided, with the goal of helping people better appreciate life by acknowledging its finite nature.
The discussion will be facilitated by Anne Stewart, a Townsend Smith Foundation volunteer and founder of Holding Space Halton and the Townsend Smith Foundation. There is no formal agenda, theme or set objectives, allowing for open-ended conversation and reflection.
Light refreshments will be provided, and attendees are welcome to bring their own.
The Death Café will take place on Saturday, February 1st, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at The Club at North Halton, located at 363 Maple Avenue in Georgetown. Those interested are encouraged to reserve a spot in advance.
