Families with Kindergarten (Year 2) students in Halton will soon be able to apply for the Grade 1 French Immersion program for the 2026 – 2027 school year through the Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB).
Applications open this week and will be accepted until Friday, February 13th. The optional French Immersion program is designed for students entering Grade 1 in September and offers a fast-paced learning environment focused on building strong French language skills from an early age.
The board notes that the program has expanded across HCDSB, meaning space is no longer determined through a random lottery process. French Immersion is offered on a regional basis, and designated school sites may change over time depending on enrolment and other factors. Families are encouraged to review the current list of designated schools before applying.
Parents and guardians can submit applications through an online application portal, which will be accessible starting January 8th.
