Peel Police say the recovery of a stolen commercial trailer taken from Halton has helped lead to the arrest of a Brampton man following a dangerous incident involving a stolen semi-truck.
The investigation began after theĀ truck was reported stolen from a repair shop near East Drive and Torbram Road in Brampton on Sunday, December 21st.
The following day, officers located the stolen truck being driven in the area of Williams Parkway and Humberwest Parkway. Police say it was pulling a trailer that had been reported stolen from Halton over the same weekend.
When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, police say the driver failed to stop and struck a fully marked police cruiser, causing extensive damage. No injuries were reported. The truck continued until it became inoperable, at which point the driver fled on foot before being arrested following a short pursuit.
42-year-old Nirmal Singh of Brampton has been charged with multiple offences, including:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime x5
- Flight From Police
- Dangerous Operation
- Possession of Break in Instruments
- Possession of Automobile Master Key x3
Further investigation determined Singh was under a Canada-wide driving prohibition. As a result, he has also been charged with:
