Halton Region says essential services will continue uninterrupted throughout the holiday period, while administrative offices will close on Christmas Eve.
According to the Region, core services such as water treatment and delivery, paramedic services, public health response, homelessness outreach, long-term care, and waste management will remain operational over the holidays. Residents needing assistance can contact Access Halton by calling 311.
Administrative offices will close starting Wednesday, December 24th, and reopen on Friday, January 2nd.
Waste management services will see some adjustments due to Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. In certain areas, curbside waste collection will be delayed by one day. Christmas tree collection will take place curbside during the weeks of January 5th and January 12th. Residents are encouraged to check their specific collection schedules online.
The Halton Waste Management Site will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. the following days:
- Friday, December 26th
- Saturday, December 27th
- Monday, December 29th
- Tuesday, December 30th
- Wednesday, December 31st
- Friday, January 2nd
It will be closed on December 25th and January 1st.
Halton Region will also continue to provide homelessness support and outreach services over the holidays, including emergency shelter assistance and help finding longer-term housing. Residents who see or suspect someone experiencing homelessness are asked to call 311 or email outreach@halton.ca. Mental health crisis outreach is available 24/7 through the Crisis Outreach and Support Team (COAST) at 1-877-825-9011. In emergencies, residents are reminded to call 911.
