The County of Simcoe is advising residents of service changes and closures during the Christmas and New Year’s holiday period.
Curbside waste collection will not take place on Christmas Day (Thursday, December 25th) or New Year’s Day (Thursday, January 1st) with Thursday collections moved to Friday, December 26th and Friday, January 2nd. All County waste drop-off facilities will close at noon on Wednesday, December 24th and remain closed December 25th, 26th, and January 1st. As of January 1st, recycling services transition to producers under provincial rules, with missed recycling collections handled by Emterra.
LINX Transit will not operate on December 25th, 26th, or January 1st, except Route 4, which will run on a Sunday schedule on December 26th and January 1st. County administration offices, Ontario Works, Children Services, the Simcoe County Museum, and Archives will close early on December 24th and remain closed on statutory holidays, while the Lake Simcoe Regional Airport will remain operational with limited on-call services on December 25th and January 1st.
Christmas tree collection will run bi-weekly by zone throughout January, and residents are encouraged to check schedules and service details online.
