The Town of Milton has been recognized nationally for its work in sustainable transit, receiving the Canadian Urban Transit Association’s Award for Innovation for its electric bus pilot project.
In a presentation at CUTA’s fall 2025 conference in Montreal, the organization highlighted Milton’s partnership with MTB Transit Solutions, which resulted in Canada’s first mid-life conversion of a diesel bus to electric battery power. The project was praised for its potential to guide small and mid-sized transit systems toward electrification. CUTA said the initiative demonstrates leadership in advancing transit technology, accessibility, service delivery, and environmental sustainability.
“We are thrilled to receive an award that recognizes Milton’s commitment to finding innovative, practical ways to reduce emissions and support a more sustainable future,” says Tony D’Alessandro, Director, Transit Services.
