Winterlit (2022)
With winter around the corner, Conservation Halton is getting things ready for their annual seasonal experience.
Winterlit will return to Mountsberg Conservation Area from December 31st to February 16th, offering visitors an illuminated seasonal experience across select evenings. It features two glowing trails lined with sustainably sourced, nature-inspired art installations, along with fireside lounges, a Book Nook, hands-on activities, and special programming for New Year’s Eve and Valentine’s Day through its Enchanted Evenings series.
Conservation Halton says this year’s event will introduce new features alongside returning favourites.
“Each year, Conservation Halton staff work hard to bring new visions to life for Winterlit, both in the creative displays featuring LED lighting and upcycled materials, and in programming to engage our guests,” says Brenna Bartley, Manager of Education & Outreach. This year, we are thrilled to offer an exciting new program, Nature Nerd Trivia Nights, on January 30 and 31. Guests can show off their nature knowledge in a fun group setting and become ‘certified’ nature nerds, with the activity fees supporting Mountsberg’s Animal Care Fund and our exceptional care for our farm animals, raptors, and native snakes.”
Highlights include two one-kilometre illuminated trails, eco-friendly art installations, the Book Nook, animal education programs at The Den, maple syrup tastings, and food and beverage options. Additional paid experiences include Art in the Park, Discover Owls sessions on Fridays, Stargazer Hikes on Saturdays, Beeswax Candle Making during Enchanted Evenings, and the Nature Nerd Trivia Nights. Children 14 and under will receive free admission on February 15th and February 16th in celebration of Family Day.
Enchanted Evenings will return on December 31st and February 14th, offering live music, a licensed bar, and fire and glow performances for visitors seeking a more elevated experience.
Tickets for all Winterlit dates, including Enchanted Evenings, are available online.
