The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) celebrated several members and community partners after MADD Halton Region presented its 2025 awards at a ceremony this week at the HRPS Headquarters.
Constable Dylan Danch and Constable Kourtney Riley were named the 2025 MADD Halton Officers of the Year for their extensive work in impaired-driving enforcement, testing, and prevention. The HRPS Marine Unit also received Project of the Year for “Project Sober Skipper,” a seasonal enforcement and education initiative aimed at reducing impaired boating on Western Lake Ontario.
MADD Halton further recognized two civilians: Christine Komisar as Citizen of the Year for intervening to prevent an impaired driver from leaving the scene in Burlington, and Steve Meehan as Volunteer of the Year for sharing his lived experience as a collision survivor to raise awareness across the region. Nicola Paris, volunteer coordinator for MADD Halton, received a 10-year service pin.
Police leaders praised the recipients for their contributions, noting that impaired driving remains one of the leading causes of serious collisions in Canada. HRPS and MADD Halton continue urging residents to report suspected impaired drivers by safely pulling over and calling 911.
