The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has launched its 5th annual Kozy Kids initiative, a winter campaign aimed at providing warm clothing to underserved youth across the region.
This program began in 2021 after officers learned that many children (particularly newcomers to Canada) were missing school during colder months because their families could not afford winter apparel.
Since its inception, Kozy Kids has supplied more than 1,200 youth in Halton with new winter wear, and this year HRPS hopes to surpass the 1,500-snowsuit milestone. Until Friday, November 28th, residents and businesses are encouraged to donate new snowsuits in youth sizes 6 – 16.
“Donating a snow suit is one of the simplest, most powerful ways we can show children that they are seen, valued, and supported by their community,” says Staff Sergeant Ryan Smith of the Community Services Unit. “With your donation, you are giving youth the ability to explore the winter season, embrace their childhood, and build the foundation for their well-being.”
Donation boxes are available at all HRPS district locations during posted hours, including stations in Oakville, Georgetown, Milton, Burlington, and the Regional Headquarters:
- Regional Headquarters – 2485 North Service Road West in Oakville (8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.)
- 11 Division – 217 Guelph Street in Georgetown (8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.)
