MPL CEO and Chief Librarian Sarah Douglas-Murray shares opening remarks
The Milton Public Library (MPL) held its first-ever Indigenous Veterans Day Ceremony last week.
On Friday, November 7th, at the MPL’s Beaty branch, First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples who have served in the military were honoured.
The event featured a traditional smudge ceremony, remarks from CEO Sarah Douglas-Murray, and a presentation by Corporal D.J. White of the Canadian Armed Forces. Mayor Gordon Krantz also read the town’s proclamation, joined by other dignitaries and students from P.L. Robertson Public School.
Wreaths, including a beaded poppy wreath, were laid in tribute.
