The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is looking for a suspect in a fraud investigation.
On Thursday, September 4th, the suspect contacted the victim through a fraudulent phone number claiming to be an employee of a financial institution’s fraud department. The suspect gave instructions to the victim to cut up their debit card and that a courier would be arranged to pick up the card for proper disposal.
The suspect then used the victim’s cut up card at various retail establishments to purchase high-ticket items, resulting in thousands of dollars in loss to the victim.
The HRPS describe the suspect as:
- Male
- Black
- 5’7″ – 5’11”
- 140-179lbs
- wearing a black and blue sweater, and black, Chicago White Sox baseball cap
