The Ontario government has announced that everyone six months and older can now receive free flu and COVID-19 vaccines at participating pharmacies, public health units, and primary care offices across the province.
The expanded rollout aims to protect communities during the fall and winter illness season, with health officials encouraging residents to get both vaccines at the same time for convenience and protection.
Free RSV immunizations are also available for eligible groups, including adults 75 and older, high-risk seniors over 60, infants, and pregnant women. Provincial health leaders say the vaccines are safe and effective at preventing serious illness and hospitalizations.
“Staying up-to-date with routine and recommended immunizations helps protect the health and safety of our long-term care staff, residents and their caregivers,” Natalia Kusendova-Bashta, Minister of Long-Term Care. “Our government’s free immunization programs, combined with effective infection and prevention control practices in our long-term care homes, help protect residents so they can get the quality of care and quality of life they need and deserve.”
Residents are encouraged to check with their health-care provider or local public health unit for eligibility and availability.
