Multiple youths have been arrested following an investigation into a crime spree in Milton.
The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) says on Tuesday, October 21st, at roughly 2:45 a.m., they were contacted after an attempted break-in to a vehicle in the area of Kovachik Boulevard in Milton. The suspects triggered a car alarm, prompting a swift call to police. Officers quickly attended the area and located three stolen vehicles attempting to flee.
HRPS officers successfully stopped one of the stolen vehicles in the area of Tremaine Road and Gordon Krantz Boulevard with the use of a tire deflation device. The three occupants of the stolen vehicle were arrested.
A 15-year-old boy from Hamilton and a 16-year-old girl from Ancaster have been charged with multiple offences, including:
- Trespass by Night
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
- Flight from Police
- Dangerous Operation
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
Investigators anticipate additional charges will also be laid.
Both youths were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
An 11-year-old was also arrested; however, they cannot be charged with a criminal offence due to their age.
The second stolen vehicle was able to evade police with the third stolen vehicle being recovered unoccupied a short time later. Investigators are actively working to identify and arrest the occupants.
Investigators have linked the group to four stolen vehicles and at least eight attempted or successful vehicle break-ins that occurred in Milton on October 20th and 21st.
Three of the four stolen vehicles have since been recovered by HRPS officers and returned to their rightful owners. Police are reminding members of the public to ensure all vehicles are locked and car keys are not left in their vehicles when unattended.
