A new art exhibition celebrating Islamic Heritage Month has opened at the Holcim Gallery inside the FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton, showcasing the work of Muslim artists from across Canada.
Hosted by The Artist Cube, Canvas of Muslim Artists: Honouring Heritage Through Art features a diverse collection of visual artworks exploring Islamic traditions, culture, and personal identity.
Sakina Khawaja is the Public Relations Officer for The Artist Cube. She explains how the exhibit highlights the creativity of Muslim-identifying artists, offering a space to reflect on heritage while promoting diversity and inclusion in the arts.
An opening night ceremony will take place on Thursday, October 9th at 7:00 p.m., welcoming community members, art enthusiasts, and local leaders to celebrate the artists and their contributions. Visitors can also look forward to workshops and opportunities to engage with creators throughout the exhibition’s three-week run. Khawaja notes that there will snacks and drinks available for attendees.
If you’d like to show your support aside from just attending the gallery this month, Khawaja says there’s another project that will be launched on Thursday.
The exhibit runs until October 26th at the Holcim Gallery, found inside the FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton, located at 1010 Main Street East in Milton.
