Barrie Police are continuing to investigate after a vehicle stolen from a Livingstone Street West home last month was found in Toronto.
At around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 7th, a homeowner was alerted by a car alarm and saw his white 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser being driven away at high speed. Surveillance video later showed two masked suspects approaching the SUV. One broke a rear window while the other scanned the vehicle with a handheld device before driving it away.
On Tuesday, September 23rd, Toronto Police located the stolen Land Cruiser, which has been towed for forensic examination. Detectives with the Barrie-South Simcoe Police Street Crime Auto Theft Unit are reminding residents to consider added security measures such as aftermarket tracking devices, immobilizers, and OBD port locks if garage storage is not available.
This investigation, along with other auto theft cases, is supported by a provincial grant aimed at helping Barrie and South Simcoe Police Services combat and prevent vehicle theft.
