The County of Simcoe’s bi-weekly curbside Leaf and Yard Waste Collection program returns on Monday, October 6th, giving residents five collection opportunities through early December.
To participate, materials should be placed at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on the Monday of your garbage collection week. Collection may occur any day during that week, so residents are asked to leave material curbside until it is picked up. This program does not apply to residents of Barrie or Orillia.
Accepted items include leaves, grass clippings, garden waste, and properly sized branches. Materials should be placed in kraft paper yard waste bags, cardboard boxes, or open rigid containers. Brush must be bundled with natural twine and measure no more than 2 metres long and 30 cm in diameter.
In addition, the County’s Battery Collection Week begins Monday, November 3rd. Residents can place their designated battery bag (or a clear resealable bag) on top of their cart (not inside). Accepted batteries include single-use dry cell types such as AA, AAA, C, D, 9-Volt, and button batteries. Extra battery bags are available at all County waste facilities.
For full details on accepted materials, preparation guidelines, and collection notices, residents are encouraged to download the Simcoe County Collects App.
