Residents in Alliston may notice emergency activity in the area of 11th Line and Tottenham Road on Thursday, September 25th, as the County of Simcoe and Town of New Tecumseth host a staged emergency exercise at the CPKC Spence Pre-Tripping Facility.
The training scenario will simulate a chemical leak from a rail car, allowing emergency personnel to practice coordination and response strategies. During the exercise, the community may see non-toxic coloured smoke, emergency vehicles, and personnel in hazmat suits.
The simulation will run from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and involve the County’s Emergency Management team, County of Simcoe Paramedic Services, New Tecumseth Fire Rescue, Barrie Fire HazMat Team, OPP, and CPKC Railway staff. The town’s Emergency Operations Centre will also be activated as part of the drill.
Officials remind residents not to engage with crews during the exercise, as this is a closed training event and access to the site will not be granted without prior approval.
