The Milton Menace returned home on Friday, September 19th, welcoming in a cross-region rival for the first time this season.
It was the Menace versus the Burlington Cougars at the Milton Memorial Arena. Just over two minutes into the game, Nick Gilby scored his 1st of the season for the Menace, assisted by Marco Costante, giving Milton the early lead. Before the end of the period, Owen King also scored his 1st of the year, with Brayden Turley and Easton Lynds being credited with assists. It was 2-0 Milton after 20 minutes of action.
In the second period, Burlington found their way onto the board. It took about 90 seconds for the Menace to respond, as Ashtyn Pacheco buried his 3rd of the year, with help from Alec Stewart and Dean Deligeorgis. That was followed up on quickly by Milton, as Tristan Tremble got his 1st of the season, assisted by King and Costante. Milton led 4-1 after two periods of play.
The third period saw a lot of physicality for both teams, but not much scoring. 13 penalties were called in the final frame, including several fights and the Cougars being called for Inciting an Opponent. Milton eventually found the back of the net at the end of the game, with Gavin Sheehan nabbing his 1st of the season, assisted by Tremble and Marcus Tryfon. Milton won 5-1.
Austin McKillop was in net for the Menace, stopping 33 of 34 shots. That gave him an impressive .970% save percentage on the game.
The Menace now have the work week off before they play again. They’ll welcome in the North York Rangers for another home game on Friday, September 26th at the Milton Memorial Arena. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. Buy your tickets for any/all home games here.
