Officers with the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) took part in a commercial motor vehicle safety blitz in Guelph last month.
The Guelph Police Service hosted the event, which also featured commercial vehicle safety officers from Waterloo, London, and the OPP – as well as representatives of the Ministry of Finance and the Canadian Border Services Agency.
Officers inspected 34 trucks and took 14 out of service for various violations. That’s 41% of all inspections. Nearly four dozen charges were laid.
“Based on feedback from our community, road safety was identified as one of [our] key priorities,” says Inspector Andrew Goody. “Initiatives such as this safety blitz, and the resulting number of violations and unsafe vehicles taken out of service, demonstrate the ongoing need for proactive enforcement to protect the public from unsafe vehicles.”
The HRPS hosted their own blitz in August as well. Find the results here.
