In honour of International Youth Day, the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has released its first Youth Engagement Strategy, outlining its youth-related priorities from 2025 to 2027.
Developed in partnership with HRPS members, the Youth Advisory Council, and 49 community organizations, this strategy focuses on listening to youth voices and connecting them with support networks across sectors such as education, healthcare, and newcomer services.
The plan includes using a new Community Resource Map to link young people to local organizations and delivering programs that help build transferable life skills.
“Given that Halton is one of the fastest growing regions in Canada, it’s important that we unite as a community to ensure no young person gets left behind,” says HRPS Chief Stephen Tanner.
Youth Advisory Council President Angelica Tam added that strong police-youth relationships foster trust, respect, and collaboration to address community issues.
The full 2025-2027 Youth Engagement Strategy is now available online, with a public end-of-term report to follow at its conclusion.
