The Milton Public Library is calling all writers in Halton.
They’re holding the 2025 In Other Words writing contest. This year’s theme is “Fractured Fairytales” – encouraging participants to reimagine classic stories with fresh perspectives, creative twists, or brand-new settings.
The contest is open to adults 18+ who live or work in Halton Region, with two entry categories:
- Flash Fiction (500 words or less)
- Short Story (1,000–3,000 words)
Writers may submit one piece per category until September 14th, and winners will be announced on October 1st.
To help spark creativity, related events like writing workshops and themed book clubs will be offered.
