A Georgetown man has been arrested following an investigation into a December hit-and-run.
On Tuesday, December 17th at roughly 5:40 a.m., a local 76-year-old man was struck by an SUV while attempting to cross Mountainview Road South at the intersection with Campbell Gate in Georgetown. The elderly pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was transferred to a trauma center after being taken to Georgetown Hospital. The vehicle that struck him fled the scene and did not return.
The Collision Reconstruction Unit took carriage of the investigation and identified the driver responsible.
As a result of the investigation, on Monday, July 28th, a 19-year-old Georgetown man, who was 18 at the time of the incident, was charged with the following offences:
- Failure to Stop after Accident resulting in Bodily Harm
- Driving while driver’s licence suspended
- Careless Driving causing Bodily Harm.
The accused has been released with a court date in Milton.

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is looking for the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit and run case.
On Tuesday, December 17th, at roughly 5:40 p.m., a pedestrian was struck at Mountainview Road and Campbell Gate by a black Jeep SUV. The elderly pedestrian was rushed to Georgetown Hospital where they are listed in stable condition. The involved vehicle failed to remain and was last seen driving south on Mountainview Road away from the scene.
Any witnesses to this incident, or drivers with dashcam or operating Tesla motor vehicles who were in the area around that time, are asked to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 905-825-4747 ext. 5065
