Families are invited to kick off the new school year with the Halton Regional Police Service at a Back-to-School Open House next month.
The event offers fun activities for all ages, including a chance to explore miniature cars, create crafts, and enjoy snacks and temporary tattoos – all while learning important safety tips just in time for the school year.
The Children’s Safety Village is a one-of-a-kind miniature town designed to teach kids real-world safety skills. Complete with paved roads, traffic lights, and crosswalks, the village allows children to engage in hands-on safety education in a fun and welcoming environment.
Attendees are encouraged to bring donations of school supplies, such as pencils, pens, markers, and notebooks, to support local students in need.
“We hope to see families come out and enjoy this unique learning space,” says event organizer Heidi O’Neill. “It’s a great way to get kids excited for school while reinforcing valuable safety habits.”
The event is free to attend, and all ages are welcome.
It’s happening on Thursday, August 7th, running from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the Children’s Safety Village, located at 1151 Bronte Road in Oakville.
