Peel Regional Police have dismantled a violent organized crime group tied to more than 15 home invasions and high-end vehicle thefts across the Greater Toronto Area, including incidents in Halton.
Dubbed Project Ghost, the investigation connected a network of criminals to a series of luxury car thefts, jewellery robberies, and assaults – some involving Halton properties and residents.
The group targeted homes with high-value vehicles, often breaking in during the early hours of the morning. Several of these break-ins occurred in Halton communities, with suspects using violence to force victims into handing over vehicle keys and valuables. In total, police estimate the network stole $1.8 million worth of property.
“Organized crime is calculated, well-connected, and deeply damaging to our communities,” says Deputy Chief Nick Milinovich, Peel Regional Police. “These networks prey on at-risk youth, pulling them into violent, criminal activity. Disrupting these operations and giving young people a way out is critical. Project Ghost reflects our unwavering commitment to both enforcement and prevention. We will not allow organized crime to take hold.”
Among the most violent incidents connected to the group was a home invasion in Brampton on August 1st, 2024, where three victims were stabbed during a robbery. A September shooting in Mississauga also linked back to the same group. Peel Police used statements, seized electronics, and surveillance footage to tie the group to additional incidents in Halton.
The coordinated investigation included support from the Halton Regional Police Service, who helped identify suspects and recover some of the luxury vehicles stolen from homes in Halton neighbourhoods. Investigators determined the group operated in clearly defined roles – leaders planning the crimes, recruits (including youth) carrying them out, and others responsible for selling stolen goods.
13 individuals – including five under the age of 18 – have now been charged with 197 offences, including attempted murder, robbery, organized crime, firearms, and drug-related charges. The accused are from Mississauga, Brampton, and Toronto, with more arrests possible as the investigation continues.

To date, about one-third of the stolen property has been recovered, along with replica firearms, phones, laptops, and a quantity of suspected cocaine.
While justice is a priority, Peel Police also emphasized prevention. Several of the youth involved have been referred to community support services to help break the cycle of violence and crime.
