A $730,000 donation from Keith Strong and the Halton Heroes Committee will support the Halton Police Foundation (HPF), funding both community initiatives and emergency support for police officers and their families.
The donation will be used to assist HRPS members who are injured or killed in the line of duty and will also help fund local programs that support at-risk youth and underserved individuals. While these events are rare, officials say the gift ensures the Foundation is equipped to respond if needed.
“Since 2012, the Halton Heroes Fund has grown into a remarkable force for good and we sincerely thank the Burlington Community Foundation for stewarding it over the past 13 years,” says Strong. “The Halton Police Foundation is now the rightful home of the fund, and we are confident that they will continue to manage it wisely and responsibly.”
The Halton Police Foundation was launched last year in conjunction with the Halton Regional Police Service’s 50th anniversary. It is the first police foundation of its kind in Ontario. While operating independently, the Foundation works in alignment with HRPS values and will provide grants to Halton-based charitable programs.
