A Burlington man is facing an impaired driving charge after being caught speeding by Guelph Police early Friday morning.
Just after midnight, a Guelph officer on patrol clocked a vehicle travelling 104 km/h in a 70-zone on Hanlon Parkway. After pulling the vehicle over, the officer noticed a strong smell of alcohol on the driver’s breath and observed slurred speech.
The driver failed a roadside screening test and was arrested. At the police station, two breath tests registered readings of 140 mg and 130 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood.
He has been charged with impaired operation under the Criminal Code and speeding under the Highway Traffic Act. The man also received a 90-day license suspension and a 7-day vehicle impound, and is scheduled to appear in court on July 22nd.
