A humid day in Milton was the site for the 10th annual Tiger Jeet Singh Foundation (TJSF) Golf Tournament.
Every summer, the TJSF holds this golf tournament at Granite Ridge Golf Club in Milton to raise funds for their annual Miracle on Main Street event, which is held in December in both Milton and Brampton.
Among the anticipatory crowd of attendees, anxiously waiting to golf, stands the President of the organization. In the 1990s, he went professionally by the ring name Tiger Ali Singh in the World Wrestling Federation (now known as WWE), but to 150,000+ Miltonians in the modern day, he’s adopted his father’s wrestling persona. Tiger Jeet Singh Jr. does it all for his dad, as he shares at each kickoff event for their flagship Miracle on Main event.
Just minutes before his routine drive to kickstart the golf tournament, Tiger shares with us how the annual event has been rebranded, as always, in memory of his father’s professional wrestling legacy.
Tiger Jeet Singh Sr. was spotted at the tournament, greeting everyone with a big smile on his face. The man became famous in the wrestling industry for his tours in Japan, swinging a sword in the air before matches with the late great Antonio Inoki. In turn, he also became a Canadian hero as he routinely sold out arenas in Toronto.
Despite rain in the afternoon, the newly christened Tiger Open was a great success, as it’ll serve as the launching pad of fundraising for this year’s Miracle on Main Street. It collects toys (and monetary donations) from residents and donates them to families in need during the Christmas season. Since 2018, the TJSF has been working in partnership with the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) Toys for Tots Campaign. The event itself features live music, presentations, food, rides, games, and more. It also joined forces with the Downtown Milton Business Improvement Area in 2022, bringing vendors and more to the annual festival. In 2024, Miracle on Main Street surpassed $2 million raised, including a $476,031.51 donation from Amazon Canada.
In the last few years, the event has also incorporated a food drive, donating food donations to local organizations in need, including Milton’s Salvation Army, Food4Kids Halton, and Food For Life. Last year’s event saw them raise $20,000 in donations.
