A Georgetown teenager has been named one of four provincial recipients of the OFSAA Character Athlete Award, presented by the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA).
Chosen from over 200 nominations across Ontario, the award recognizes student-athletes who demonstrate strong leadership, sportsmanship, respect, and equity in all areas of their lives.
Christ the King Catholic Secondary School’s Alexa Cormier is a multisport athlete who has competed provincially in both swimming and track and field, making five OFSAA appearances in eight events. Her role in expanding the school’s swim program and mentoring younger athletes was a key factor in her selection.
In addition to her athletic success, Cormier is also involved in a range of school clubs and community initiatives. She has previously been recognized with several awards, including the Irene McCauley Memorial Award and Most Promising Athlete in Grade 9.
As part of the OFSAA Character Athlete Award, Cormier received a $500 grant, a commemorative plaque, and a custom ring. The award aims to highlight student-athletes who positively influence their school communities both in and out of competition.
