Pride Month is almost here and there are a number of events and activities taking place in Milton and around Halton this summer.
The Town of Milton will be hosting PRISM Halton for a flag raising on Friday, May 30th at Town Hall. It starts at 10:30 a.m. with several speakers expected for the morning.
There will then be several Pride events in June, starting with Yoga & Pride Family Picnic at Spencer Smith Park in Burlington on Sunday, June 1st. The waterfront will be full of colour, calm, and community this weekend, kicking off at 11:00 a.m. with yoga by the water, a free and inclusive session designed for all ages and abilities. Afterward, guests are invited to stay and enjoy a Pride-themed family picnic. It’s expected to be an afternoon of laughter, connection, and celebration in the heart of Burlington. Everyone is welcome, and admission is free. Bring your yoga mat, picnic blanket, and your whole crew.
Less than two weeks later, there will be a Pride Movie Night on Saturday, June 14th. The free event will start at 6:00 p.m. at Norval United Church in Georgetown, and will celebrate diverse stories in a welcoming space for all. Anyone and everyone will be welcome to enjoy a feel-good film with some free popcorn.
On Saturday, June 21st, all are welcome to attend Pride High Tea with THE Queen. Sip tea, drink mimosas, and bask in the glamour of drag royalty with host Kenadie St. James. You’re welcome to dress up and enjoy an afternoon of elegance. It’ll start at 12:00 p.m. at The Wine Bar in Oakville.
Before the annual parade kicks off, attendees can start Halton’s Pride Weekend with a Pre-Parade Drag Show at The Eighth Note in Milton. This 19+ event will be hosted by Robin Loren, and feature performances by Heaven Lee Hytes, Katinka Kature, and more. Tickets are $20. It starts at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 19th.
Finally, the 3rd annual Halton Pride Parade will roll right down Milton’s Main Street on Sunday, July 20th. Founder and Chair of PRISM Halton, Melanie Tremills, hopes to see everyone out to enjoy the day.
The parade starts at 2:00 p.m. and will run wrap up by 3:00 p.m.
Also happening on July 20th is the first ever Pride in the Park – The Ultimate Pride Celebration at the Milton Fairgrounds. There will be live music, food, drinks, and family friendly activities. Learn more here.
