Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is looking into a serious collision in Burlington that left a 24-year-old man and a 16-year-old teen with serious injuries early Tuesday morning.
According to preliminary details, the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) were following up on two reported home invasions in Oakville and Milton when they located a vehicle of interest around 4:20 a.m. near Appleby Line and Number 2 Side Road. Police followed the vehicle northbound and deployed a tire deflation device just past Number 4 Side Road. Shortly after, the vehicle crashed into a utility pole near Appleby Line and Britannia Road.
All five male occupants of the vehicle were arrested and taken to hospital, where two were diagnosed with serious injuries. The SIU has assigned a team of three investigators, including two forensic specialists and a collision reconstructionist, to the case.
Anyone with information, video, or photos is asked to contact the lead SIU investigator at 1-800-787-8529 or click here.
