The Town of Milton is hosting public information sessions to gather feedback on proposed policy changes that would permit additional residential units (ARUs) in rural areas, including local hamlets.
The move aims to expand housing options and provide more flexibility for property owners in these communities.
ARUs are self-contained units with their own kitchen, bathroom, and sleeping area. Common types include basement apartments, garden suites, coach houses, and granny flats. Town Council has already approved similar changes for Milton’s urban areas earlier in 2024.
Residents will have two opportunities to learn more and share their input. A virtual session is scheduled for Thursday, May 29th, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, and requires registration. An in-person session will take place on Tuesday, June 3rd, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Nassagaweya Tennis Centre & Community Hall, located at 9267 Guelph Line in Campbellville.
Planning and Development staff will present the proposed regulations and answer community questions.
