In October 2024, the York Regional Police Integrated Property Crime Task Force (ICPTF) launched an investigation into a series of residential break and enters they believed to have been perpetrated by the same suspects. The suspects targeted unoccupied homes that appeared to be vacant while the homeowners were away during the fall and winter months.
The suspects carried out coordinated overnight break and enters – stealing jewelry, handbags, cash and other items that could be easily transported from the residence to waiting vehicles.
Investigators cooperated with other police jurisdictions, including the HRPS, in order to identify suspects, gather evidence, and to assist in identifying additional victims.
As a result of the investigation, three suspects have been arrested and warrants have been issued for an additional three. A full list of charges can be found here.
Investigators have been unable to locate the outstanding suspects and are appealing to the public for information.
The suspects are encouraged to seek legal advice and turn themselves in. Investigators are reminding the public that anyone providing assistance to them could be subject to criminal charges.
As a result of search warrants executed at residences in the City of Oshawa, numerous items have been recovered. A Dropbox folder has been set up with photos of the items that have not yet been claimed. Anyone who was a victim of a residential break and enter between September 2024 to March 2025 is asked to review the photos and contact police if any of the items belong to you.
