The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has made two arrests and laid multiple charges after a vehicle was stolen from a driveway in Burlington.
On Saturday, April 26th, at roughly 3:30 a.m., two masked suspects in a white sedan attended the driveway of a residence in the area of Upper Middle Road and Appleby Line where they broken into a Lexus SUV by smashing a window.
One suspect then fled in the stolen Lexus while the second suspect followed in the white sedan.
Officers responded and located the stolen vehicle along with the white sedan a short time later in a parking lot near the intersection of Trafalgar Road and South Service Road East in Oakville.
Both suspects were quickly and safely taken into custody.
As a result of the investigation:
19-year-old Jayshawn Chambers-Wint of Mississauga has been charged with the following:
- Theft of Motor Vehicle
- Possess Electronic Device Suitable for Committing Theft of a Motor Vehicle
- Possession of Break in Instruments
- Disguise with Intent
25-year-old Amir Abuhmaid of Mississauga has been charged with the following:
- Theft of Motor Vehicle
- Possess Electronic Device Suitable for Committing Theft of a Motor Vehicle
- Possession of Break in Instruments
- Disguise with Intent
Both accused have been held in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton.
