The Toronto Police Service has made three arrests following an investigation into GTA-wide robbery cases, including Halton.
Between Wednesday, January 8th and Wednesday, February 12th, officers from Toronto, York, Durham and Halton regions responded to nine retail robberies.
It is alleged that in each incident, several suspects, travelling in a stolen vehicle, attended retail stores wearing masks to conceal their identities. They entered the premises armed with hammers, smashed glass display cases and removed the contents. They took a quantity of high-end fragrances before fleeing the areas in the stolen vehicle. It’s believed it could be as much as $200,000 worth of fragrances in total taken during these robberies.
On Wednesday, February 19th, investigators executed three Criminal Code search warrants in relation to the investigation. The three suspects were located and taken into custody.
It is further alleged that during the searches, officers recovered items of evidentiary value related to the investigation
A 19-year-old Toronto man was charged with:
- five counts of Robbery With Offensive Weapon
- five counts of Disguise With Intent
- three counts of Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over
- five counts of Conspiracy to Commit Indictable Offence
A 19-year-old Toronto man was charged with:
- seven counts of Robbery With Offensive Weapon
- seven counts of Disguise With Intent
- Assault With Weapon
- three counts of Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over
- seven counts of Conspiracy to Commit Indictable Offence
A 16-year-old Toronto boy was charged with:
- nine counts of Robbery With Offensive Weapon
- nine counts of Disguise With Intent
- four counts of Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over
- Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under
- nine counts of Conspiracy to Commit Indictable Offence
All three appeared in a Toronto court on Wednesday.
