The Milton Menace laid the smackdown on Tuesday afternoon.
They welcomed in the Wellington Dukes for a day game on February 11th. The Menace were coming off a rough finish to their Sunday game where they gave up two goals in the final minute to blow a one-goal lead over the Toronto Patriots. Read the recap here.
It was Madden MacDougall who started the scoring off for the Menace in the first period. His 21st was of the season was assisted by Justin Dezoete and Captain Graeme MacAuley. Milton led Toronto 1-0 after 20 minutes of action.
Things went nuclear in the second period. Nathan Catalano buried his 10th of the season just two minutes into the frame. It was assisted by Andrew Giljanovic and Owen Kindree. Captain MacAuley then got on the board with his own goal, assisted by MacDougall and Justin Dezoete. That was quickly followed up with a goal from Luke Johnston. His 28th was assisted by Kindree and Ivan Fabjan. The offence kept coming as Dezoete scored on the powerplay, with help from Johnston and 16-year-old Ryder Cali. A few minutes later, Johnston scored his second of the game, assisted by Ashtyn Pacheco and Captain MacAuley. The Dukes were then able to find the back of the net to get themselves on the scoresheet. Before the end of the period, MacDougall would score again, assisted by Tristan Tremble and Giljanovic. It was 7-1 Menace after two periods of play.
In the the final frame, Wellington would get two more goals. MacDougall also buried his third to clinch the hattrick. His 23rd of the year was assisted by Johnston and Dezoete. Milton beat Welllington 8-3.
The goaltender for Milton was Carter Bickle. He stopped 30 of 33 shots for a .909% save percentage.
