The Milton Menace had an up and down weekend.
On Friday, January 31st, the Menace went into the Central Arena to take on the Burlington Cougars. It took just over two minutes for Milton to get on the board. Ivan Fabjan scored his 13th of the season, assisted by Owen Kindree. Near the end of the period, Cole Semeniuk would bury his 5th of the season with help from Spencer Vandenberg and Ashtyn Pacheco. Burlington would get one back right after, making it a 2-1 game heading into the first intermission.
In the second period, Burlington would tie things up early on. Milton would answer back, with Semeniuk getting his 6th goal unassisted. The Cougars wouldn’t stay down, as they’d tie it up again. It was a 3-3 game after 40 minutes of action.
Andrew Giljanovic was almost the hero in the third period. His 5th goal was assisted by Kaden Smith. That’d be forgotten quickly as the Cougars would score just 17 seconds later, and then get the game winner a minute later. Burlington would beat Milton 5-4.
Carter Bickle was in net for Milton. He stopped 41 of 46 shots, giving him an .891% save percentage.
The Menace would stay on the road over the weekend, taking on the Toronto Patriots on Sunday, February 2nd.
This game went a lot better for the Menace.
14 minutes into the game, Ashtyn Pacheco would net his 12th of the season, assisted by Spencer Vandenberg and Owen Kindree. Just over two minutes later, the leading scorer for the Menace, Madden MacDougall, would score his 19th of the season, assisted by Luke Johnston and 16-year-old Ryder Cali. Milton led the way after 20 minutes of play.
In the second, Toronto would get a goal back. Cole Semeniuk would respond, continuing his hot weekend. His 7th goal was assisted by Johnston and Owen Kindree. It was 3-1 Milton after two periods.
It was also a good weekend for Andrew Giljanovic, as he started the third period off with his 6th of the season, and 2nd goal in two games. Kindree and Markus Hicks were credited with the helpers. The Patriots would try to keep things close with their 2nd goal of the game, but Luke Johnston would bury the empty netter later in the third. His 27 was assisted by Ivan Fabjan and Justin Dezoete. Off the following faceoff, Nathan Catalano would get behind the defence and score his 9th goal, assisted by Giljanovic and Henry Attard. Milton beat Toronto 6-2.
Austin McKillop was in net for the Menace this time around. He stopped 35 of 37 shots, giving him a .945% save percentage.
The Menace return to the ice on Thursday, February 6th to play the Leamington Flyers at the Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre. Puck drop is set for 7:10 p.m.
Their next home game is set for Sunday, February 9th. Game time against the Toronto Patriots at the Milton Memorial Arena is planned for 1:00 p.m. – due to the Super Bowl being on that day. Buy your tickets for any/all home games here.
