An Oakville man is facing an assault charge after a bottle was thrown into a crowd on the University of Guelph campus.
Early in the morning of Saturday, September 28th, a first-year student attended a large outdoor gathering on campus. At roughly 2:30 a.m., a large glass bottle was tossed into the air towards a crowd, striking the victim in the head.
The victim sought medical attention on campus and then attended Guelph General Hospital, where he was told he had sustained a concussion and would require stitches.
Following an investigation by the Campus Safety Office and Guelph Police Service, an unnamed 18-year-old Oakville man, who is not a university student, was arrested this week for assault causing bodily harm. He will appear in court Tuesday, December 17th.
