September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
The day honours Survivors of residential schools and children who never returned home.
It is also Orange Shirt Day.
The orange shirt is a symbol of the stripping away of culture, freedom and self-esteem experienced by Indigenous children.
A sunrise ceremony is being held Monday (sep30) morning to recognize National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Beginning at 7 at Innisfil Beach Park the ceremony will honour those who were part of the Canada’s residential school system.
