The Milton Menace had quite the start to OJHL regular season.
On Friday, September 6th, the Menace welcomed in the Caledon Admirals to the Milton Memorial Arena. Gavin Sheehan broke the seal, scoring nine minutes into the first period. His first goal of the season was assisted by Tristan Tremble and Kaden Smith. The Admirals got on the board a few minutes later, but Milton followed up with a powerplay marker. Luke Hampel buried it, with help from Ashtyn Pacheco and Nathan Catalano. The Menace were up 2-1 after 20 minutes of action.
In the second period, Gabriel Ciarallo helped the Menace run away with things. His goal was assisted by Markus Hicks and Ivan Fabjan. Hampel then scored another goal, assisted by Alexandr Siletskiy and Captain Graeme MacAuley. Caledon didn’t go down without a fight, scoring a second goal. But, just before the end of the frame, Ciarallo buried his second of the period. Marcus Tryfon and Catalano got the apples. It was 5-2 Menace heading into the final period.
The third was all Milton, as Kyle Burton scored an unassisted goal, and Ryder Cali got the unassisted empty netter on his 16th birthday. Milton won the game 7-2.
In net for the Menace was Ethan Kowatsch. He stopped 16 of 18 shots, good for an .888% save percentage.
A couple days later, the Menace found themselves on the road in North York to take on the Rangers on Sunday, September 8th.
Milton came out red hot, scoring four goals to open the game:
- Dean Deligeorgis (1) – assisted by Markus Hicks (2) and Lucas Tye (1)
- Graeme MacAuley (1) – assisted by Ivan Fabjan (2) and Gabriel Ciarallo (1)
- Ivan Fabjan (1) – assisted by Gabriel Ciarallo (2)
- Nathan Catalano (1) – assisted by Graeme MacAuley (2) and Ivan Fabjan (3)
North York would get one back before the end of the first period.
In the second frame, Ashtyn Pacheco got in on the fun, scoring his first of the year, assisted by Marcus Tryfon. That was immediately followed up by Lucas Tye’s first goal. Dean Deligeorgis and Captain MacAuley got the assists. Milton led the game 6-1 after two periods of play.
The third period was mostly uneventful, with Luke Hampel getting his third goal. The powerplay marker was assisted by Tryfon and Alexandr Siletskiy. Milton won again, this time 7-1.
A returning Ariel Zaslaver was the netminder on Sunday. He stopped 24 of 25 shots, giving him an even .960% save percentage.
The Menace will have an entire work week to review the tape and get ready for their next game. They take on the Niagara Falls Canucks on Friday, September 13th. The game will start at 7:00 p.m. at the Gale Centre in Niagara Falls.
It’ll be a couple of weeks before the Menace are playing in their own barn again. They take on the Cobourg Cougars on Friday, September 20th. Game time at the Milton Memorial Arena will be at 7:30 p.m.
