Do you have any birthday traditions?
I turn 30 tomorrow. I usually take the day off to use up the last of my vacation days. For the first time in a longtime, that’s not happening this year!
Is there anything special that you do for your birthday? Something that you try to do every year? Maybe it’s a regular vacation or maybe it’s a regular dinner spot? Eat the same kind of cake? Visit Starbucks for a free drink?
Let me know!

What else did we talk about this morning?
ICYMI – RECAP WITH CAP: Weekly interview with Milton Menace captain Graeme MacAuley – Episode 2
Captain of the Milton Menace was back in studio for another edition of ‘Recap with Cap’. He talked about training camp up until this point, getting his body ready for a long season, and whether or not he’d make a good anthem singer.
Daily WTF – Alberta town ends prohibition
For the first time in 121-years, residents in Cardston, Alberta are able to get themselves a drink. The community finally made the decision to end prohibition. People were seen getting out and going to restaurants to enjoy some alcohol. It’s possible, though highly unlikely, that someone had their first drink! The decision has been met with mixed results, as many people feel it goes against their religion. Apparently Alberta has the highest Mormon population of any province in Canada, which explains why a town could go so long under prohibition. But hey, here’s to you, here’s to me, if you don’t like it, leave it be.
Daily Did You Know – Here’s why Esquesing Line in Milton has been closed
If you’re like me and one day you drove down Esquesing/4th Line and the next day it was closed, then good news – we have an answer as to why it’s closed! The Town of Milton says the closure is for the construction of a storm sewer box culvert. It’s expected to remain closed until Thursday, December 5th, pending any issues. So, if you’ve found a new way around it, whether it’s taking 25, Boston Road Church or just heading all the way down to Trafalgar, you essentially have to stick to that plan until the winter.
Winona Ryder Says She’s Missed Flights Repeating Her Famous Beetlejuice Line for TSA Agents: ‘It Became a Thing’
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice hits theatres next weekend, and it’s been a long time coming for the sequel. The first Beetlejuice movie is an 80s classic, and one of my personal favourites. My mom and I probably watched that thing on YTV 30 times over the course of my childhood. It helped make Winona Ryder a household name back then, and it seems, it affected her life pretty significantly. While doing some press junkets for the movie, she shared that she actually missed flights because TSA agents were forcing her to say Beetlejuice three times in a row. She says it became a thing where she wasn’t allowed through unless she quoted the movie. Which is crazy to think about, but also, if saying “Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice” made you miss your flight, you were probably going to miss that flight anyway.
Oasis’s Career By the Numbers
At one point in their careers, the boys of Oasis were hailed as the next ‘Beatles’. They were a British rock band who released hit after hit after hit. They never quite lived up to that moniker (who could?) but they still became one of the biggest bands of their generation. With their announcement this week that a reunion is finally happening, it seems people are getting their big ‘O’ on. ‘Wonderwall’ has reentered the charts with people streaming the song like crazy. I wouldn’t be surprised if other songs follow. ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’ is, in my opinion, the perfect karaoke song. So, if you’re one of the many people who are getting back into Oasis, you can catch them live next summer. Tickets go on sale this weekend.
GOOD NEWS – Kroger employee saves co-worker’s life on first day
You might be at work right now as you read this. How was your first day on the job? Do you remember it? Did you save someone’s life? That’s what happened to Shane Condon. He had just transferred to a new Kroger location when he came across a coworker on the floor struggling to breathe. He immediately started performing CPR, and according to emergency crews, saved the man’s life. The coworker spent five days in the hospital after his heart stopped, but is alive all thanks to the new guy… And that is some good news!
Steve Harvey Biopic ‘Seventy-Two’ In Works
Anyone and everyone appears to be getting a biopic movie, and that includes comedian and gameshow host Steve Harvey. The 67-year-old man has been in show business for more than 40 years after he left a sales job to pursue a comedy career. This movie will cover a 72-hour period of his life ahead of his performance at the Apollo Theatre in 1993, which he says changed his whole career. Thing is, in 2024, many people probably only Harvey as the ‘Family Feud’ guy. They might be going into the movie expecting some whacky shenanigans on the set of Family Feud. Will we get anything like that? Survey says… Probably not.
Canadians are loving that actor Steve Martin has a negative review of Tim Hortons
It’s become kind of, in vogue, to hate on Tim Hortons. The fast food restaurant and café is an iconic Canadian symbol, but not everyone enjoys what the brand has to offer in 2024. If you ask comedian and actor Steve Martin, it wasn’t even great 20 years ago! While during press junkets for the release of the new season of ‘Only Murders in the Building’, Martin, Selena Gomez, and Martin Short were interviewed by Etalk. Timmies came up in conversation as Gomez was set to film a new movie in Canada, and Short himself is Canadian. Here’s what Steve Martin had to say about Tim Hortons. I like the Selena Gomez and Martin Short both defended Tim Hortons there, like, “you ordered a grilled cheese and you got mad that you got a grilled cheese, what are you talking about?” Listen, I love Steve Martin, and I also love Tim Hortons. There is a part of me that enjoys this story being from 20 years ago, because if you ask some Canadians, that was back “when it was good.” People just like to be angry, and the service industry is an easy target.
Metallica’s Edmonton visit leaves lasting impression on food bank, women’s shelter
Arguably the greatest heavy metal band of all time, Metallica, was in Edmonton this week. While visiting the Canadian city for their concert, they happened to stop by the local food bank and women’s shelter. Through their non-profit foundation, Metallica donated $50,000 to both organizations. That money will go towards helping Edmontonians who might be struggling right now. I love the idea of these big mean looking heavy metal rockers who just regularly donate thousands of dollars to charity whenever they can. It’s a nice juxtaposition.
