Daily WTF – 116-year-old Japanese in line to be named world’s oldest living person
The oldest living person has passed away. Maria Branyas Morera of Spain was 117 years old, which made her the eighth oldest person in recorded human history. Her mantle now goes to Japan where Tomiko Itooka is 116-years-old. She was born on May 23rd, 1908 in Osaka, Japan. Itooka got married at 20-years-old, had two sons and two daughters, and took up mountain climbing after her husband died in 1979. Believe it or not, she didn’t enter a nursing home until 2019, when she would have been roughly 111-years-old. Rest in peace to Maria Branyas Morera, and hello to Tomiko Itooka. May she live as comfortably as possible!

Netflix reveals trailer for Squid Game video game
Streaming giant Netflix has had a few massive hits over the years. House of Cards was probably the first, followed by Stranger Things. Over the pandemic, they were releasing hit after hit. Squid Game might be the biggest of the bunch, with a second season on the way, a reality TV show spinoff already released, and more to be made. Coming soon, subscribers can play a Squid Game video game on the Netflix app. A trailer for the game was released yesterday, detailing what to expect. If you’ve ever wanted to try the games from the show, whether it’s ‘Red Light, Green Light’, or getting across the glass platform before you fall, here’s your chance! And you get to do it without dying, which if you ask me, is a very nice factor.
GOOD NEWS – Long Beach fixes nearly half of its 63,000 potholes
We’re currently in the dog days of construction, but we’re not alone. Every municipality is in the same boat, as crews work to update and maintain roads, sewers, and everything in between and around them. That includes Long Beach, California, who are halfway through their mission of filling all 63,000 reported potholes in their community. Officials say they are filling 5,000 a month with the endgame of making the roads are smoother place to drive. It also ups the ante for every single other municipality in North America, putting everyone on notice, like, ‘See, this is nice construction work…” And that’s some good news!
Jennifer Lopez files for divorce from Ben Affleck
True love is officially dead. Jennifer Lopez has filed for divorced from Ben Affleck. This comes after the two rekindled their romance from 20 years ago, where they were the hottest ‘IT’ couple, engaged to be married, and then BOOM, they split up. But, their rekindled love gave a lot of people hope. A sort of, “If it’s meant to be, it’ll be.” Well, they never said how LONG it would be, and in this case, it was roughly two years. According to reports, there weren’t any prenuptial agreements, which considering how successful both of them are, could either make things really easy or really difficult. We’ll have to wait and see. RIP Bennifer.
Ontario woman accidentally massively overpays Visa bill
You ever accidentally overpay your credit card? The one time I did it, I was like, well, looks like I’m treating myself to a burrito today because this bad boy needs to get back to $0. An 89-year-old woman is making headlines for overpaying her credit card to a MASSIVE extent. Ann Bank of Etobicoke was paying her VISA bill online. When she went to pay off the $131.07, she accidentally agreed to pay $13,107. When she realized the mistake, she and her son called the bank and were told the issue would fix itself in about two weeks. After three months, the banks had no idea where the money had gone. That’s not good! Thankfully, after making a bit of a fuss, the issue had been resolved. A tip for the elderly: always get your kids or younger family members to help with your online banking. Last thing you need to do is lose several thousand dollars with the click of a button.
