Star Wars fans are mixed after ‘The Acolyte’ was canceled after one season.
Some are saying the Disney show deserved to be cancelled (as in, it wasn’t good), but others feel it was still too early to make that decision.
The streaming boom has been an odd one for original content. On one hand, we’re getting way more TV shows and movies than ever before, but we’re also seeing series and franchises collapse if the feedback isn’t necessarily perfect. Netflix is a perfect example of this, as they routinely cancel shows after one or two seasons because viewership didn’t meet expectations.
Which show are you upset got canceled too early? Speaking of Netflix cancelling shows too early: I’m still not over ‘GLOW’ not getting a proper ending.
Let me know!

What else did we talk about this morning?
ICYMI – The history behind Milton’s Izumi Gate and Mockridge Terrace
It was Street Name Monday yesterday. Each week, we hear from Milton Historical Society President John Challinor as he details the origins of two local street names. That includes Izumi Gate and Mockridge Terrace, streets named after a world famous angler and a long-time local librarian. We’ll have more streets next week!
Daily WTF – 6,000 sheep will soon be grazing on 10,000 acres of Texas solar fields
Solar energy is a great resource, but you need a lot of space to have those panels up and working. There are 10,000 acres of land in Texas reserved for these solar panels. Thing is, the grass that these panels sit on can’t get too high, which makes you think: who’s mowing that grass? Would using a lawnmower even be beneficial seeing as how, you know, solar panels are supposed to be energy efficient? Wouldn’t that defeat the purpose? The answer is: yes, that would defeat the purpose, which is why the solar people have gone a different route to take care of the grass. Instead of using a lawnmower on 10,000 acres of grass, these people have collected 6000 sheep. The sheep will graze on the fields, and this decision is being hailed as, “the greatest opportunity for the sheep industry in [our] lifetime.” Hopefully they have a few donkeys or sheepdogs out there, because otherwise those sheep will be easy pickings for coyotes and wolves. Just saying…
Daily Did You Know – Thousands raised at annual food drive in support of Food4Kids Halton

Speaking with Executive Director Jennifer Sully-Ferraro, she says donations are needed now more than ever. We’ll see you next year for the 7th event!
IRONY: Woman steals security system from local store
Halton Police are searching for an unknown woman who happened to steal potentially the most ironic thing available to her: a security system. Think about that? What’s the purpose of a security system? Ideally, to keep you safe and to prevent crime. What did she do to get it? She committed a crime! You gotta love the irony.
Milton woman arrested after allegedly contaminating local pools with feces and chocolate
The Town of Milton has had a pretty rough August when it comes to their pools. On multiple occasions this month, the Town had to shut down the pools at the Milton Sports Centre and Milton Leisure Centre. Why? Well, they were being contaminated. What does that mean? Someone was pooping in the pools… And because it seemingly happened more than once in such a short time during public swims, they thought it might have been intentional. Halton Police conducted an investigation, and reportedly found their culprit. A 33-year-old Milton woman was arrested last week. She was charged with Mischief Under $5000 and was released on an undertaking with a future court date. The ‘Milton Pool Pooper’ has been caught, but will this be the last we see of her? Let’s hope so.
“Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” hat fetches $630,000 at auction
A very rich nerd just got a whole lot cooler following a recent auction in California. It happened to have all kinds of movie memorabilia, from franchises like Star Wars, James Bond, and Harry Potter. However, it’s a hat from one specific movie that’s getting all the attention. Dozens of bids were made on Indiana Jones’ hat from ‘The Temple of Doom’. It eventually sold to one lucky bidder for a whopping $630,000. The rabbit skinned fedora was worn by Harrison Ford in the classic 80s movie, and was in possession of the actor’s stunt double for all these years. He passed away recently, leading the family to put his collection up for auction, and BOOM, six hundred grand. Not a bad haul.
GOOD NEWS – Ike Barinholtz and his dad become first pair to win $1 million prize on revamped Who Wants to Be a Millionaire
You might know Ike Barinholtz for his work on MAD TV or in a number of comedic films. He’s also a beast in celebrity game shows, having won Celebrity Jeopardy last year, and recently, winning a revamped version of ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire’. The actor is the first to make it all the through to the end of the game, competing alongside his father. They won $1 million, which is being donated to the ASL Program at Los Encinos School in California. He says that money will go a long way to helping that program, and that’s some good news.
KFC and KD partner on brand-new snacks across Canada
Your munchies cravings just got a bit more real, as Kraft Dinner has teamed up with Kentucky Fried Chicken. The two brands have teamed up for a number of Canadian exclusive items at KFC locations, including a KD Mac & Cheese Chicken Sandwich. That would be KD macaroni and cheese piled on top of a KFC chicken sandwich. I can feel my breath shortening the more and more I read into this thing. It’s a limited time offer, so if you’re interested, you’re gonna wanna act fast.
Giant pigeon to loom over New York
New York City, much like Toronto, is famous for their pigeons. They’re everywhere, and they’re either dumb, brave or a bit of both because they are not afraid of the mass amount of people and cars. To celebrate the pigeons of NYC, an artist has been commissioned to make a giant statue of one. The 16ft tall structure was sit atop the High Line elevated park on the city’s west side. It’s being called ‘Dinosaur’ by the artist, due to its size and the ancestry that birds have with ancient dinosaurs. It officially goes up in October, and will remain up for 18 months. So, if you’re going to New York City, be aware that there is a giant pigeon statue… Which is a bit better than the actual giant rats they have.
