For the first time ever, ‘The Drew Carey Show’ will be available for streaming, as it will be added to PLEX for free.
Despite lasting for nine years on television, with nine seasons, the show has remained unavailable over the streaming boom of the last decade plus. It’s even been out of syndication due to music licensing! Because of all that, it’s largely been forgotten over the years, especially compared to other 90s/2000s sitcoms.
Is there a show or movie you’d like to see added to streaming?
My wife and I both grew up on Disney cartoons, and since the launch of Disney+, we’ve been patiently waiting for them to upload ‘The Weekenders’. It’s been like five years and still NOTHING. Come on, Disney get it together.
What about you?
Let me know!

What else did we talk about this morning?
ICYMI – This local road is closed for the rest of the month
It wouldn’t be summer in Milton without a particular sliver of Appleby Line closing for construction! The Town of Milton says Appleby between Derry and Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area’s entrance has closed for the rest of the month. Keep an eye out for detour routes, which I’m sure you’re used to finding at this point. The closure is expected to last through August. No exact reopening date has been provided.
Daily WTF – Coca-Cola, Oreo collaborate on new, limited-edition cookies, drinks
If you’ve ever spent time in the drinks and snacks aisle at the grocery store, then you know, some companies love to release limited-edition weird flavours of their products. Two products who are the most guilty of this are Coca-Cola and Oreo, and now they’re teaming up! You can soon buy limited-edition Coca-Cola flavoured Oreos, expected to provide a “fizz sensation.” It doesn’t just stop there, however, as Coke will be releasing a limited-edition Oreo flavoured cola. Mark your calendars, both items will hit shelves on September 9th.
Author Waubgeshig Rice speaks about bestselling series and coming to Milton this fall
Waubgeshig Rice is a bestselling author who will be featured in the Milton Public Library’s ‘One Book One Milton’ annual event. He’s coming to town this fall, and you can see him live at the FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton, as he discussing his hit book ‘Moon of the Crusted Snow’ and its new sequal ‘Moon of the Turning Leaves’. We spoke with him ahead of the event, as he talks about his books, his career, and more.
Pair of Milton roads going under construction for combined several months
We’ve already touched on local construction today, but there’s ANOTHER Milton road getting some work done. Actually, it’s technically two roads. 3 Side Road will close next week as crews repair the street. After six weeks, they’ll then start working on Milton Heights Crescent. Both projects should be done by November 19th – pending any issues (and it’s local construction, there are always issues).
All Hands on Deck Food Drive returns to John’s No Frills this week
Tomorrow, we’ll be LIVE ON LOCATION at John’s No Frills for our 6th annual ‘All Hands on Deck’ food drive. I’ve been a part of every single one, and am up pumped to be a part of another! We’re collecting food donations for Food4Kids Halton, who are helping ensure that no child across the region goes hungry. John himself (of John’s No Frills) has made things easy by packaging together $5 grab bags at all cash registers. Pay for those, bring them to us outside, and they’ll go right in the back of the big Wallace Chevrolet truck. The goal is to fill that thing as many times as possible. We’ll be there from 10am to 3pm tomorrow. If you can’t make it, stop by John’s No Frills between now and then and you can round up your grocery total to make a donation directly to Food4Kids Halton. That said, I hope we see you there!
Rourke signs with Lions, will become CFL’s highest-paid player
A local boy is returning north of the border after a stint in the NFL. Oakville’s Nathan Rourke spent the last few years trying to make a roster, spending time with the Jacksonville Jaguars, New England Patriots, New York Giants, and Atlanta Falcons. He even made a highlight reel play where he avoided a bunch of tackles to bomb a 21-yard throw in the endzone for a touchdown. But, after being cut once again, he decided to come back to the CFL. He was named the league’s top Canadian back in 2022, which led to his run down south. Rourke will now be the highest paid player in the CFL, signing a three-year deal with the BC Lions. Hopefully he hits the ground running!
GOOD NEWS – Restaurant donates part of dessert sales to Massachusetts boy whose ice cream stand was shut down
A 12-year-old boy in Massachusetts was making ice cream at home and selling it from an ice cream stand, similar to a lemonade stand. He was raising money for brother’s hockey team, the Boston Bear Cubs, a team for athletes with special needs. Thing is, his ice cream stand didn’t pass the health code, and so the health department was forced to shut it down. Upon hearing this news, a nearby restaurant decided to help him, and is donating a quarter of their sales to his cause. They also have a donation jar at their cash register in case people want to provide some extra help… And that is some good news!
This Sask. town is offering $30,000 to people who build a home in the community
If you’re tired of renting but also know it’s nearly impossible to afford a house in the GTA, you might be looking to move west. The prairies provides real estate at low costs, and a small Saskatchewan town is hoping you consider their offer. Moosomin is planning to double their population very soon, as they have offered anyone and everyone $30,000 to relocate there and build a home. If you’re okay with living in a small town in the prairies as long as it means you own a home, this could be a pretty sweet deal for you! Maybe you work from home and can afford living anywhere – why not Moosomin? Moosomin? More like “Moving someone in!”
Los Angeles Olympics 2028: Dr. Dre is ‘deadass serious’ about competing in archery at next Summer Games
As we lay in the shadow of the 2024 Paris Summer Games, a lot of people are getting that itch for more sporting events. We’re looking ahead to the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, and apparently, so is Dr. Dre. The legendary rapper and music producer says he’s making it his goal to be the next Summer Olympics, and he doesn’t mean just visiting. He says he’s going to go through the process of trying to qualify for the games. What event does Dr. Dre think he has a shot in? Archery! Dre says he’s been involved with archery since high school, and thinks he has a shot at becoming an Olympian. Hey, he’s got four years to practice, and all the money to hire the best coaches. Might as well take a shot.
