Musician St. Vincent (Annie Clark) has called ‘Daughters’ by John Mayer “the worst song ever written.”
Very blunt, all things considered. She thinks it pretends to be a love song, but comes across as “really retrograde and sexist.”
That said, what do you think is the worst song ever written?
What’s yours?
Let me know!

What else did we talk about this morning?
ICYMI – The history behind Milton’s Cavanagh Lane and Higginbotham Crescent
Each week, we speak with Milton Historical Society President John Challinor about the history of local street names. We covered two streets this week: Cavanagh Lane and Higginbotham Crescent, focusing on a local pioneer and a former Milton mayor. There will be two more street names next week!
Daily WTF – Pitbull buys naming rights to FIU football stadium
Mr. Worldwide is about to become Mr. FIU. Pitbull has purchased the naming rights to Florida International University’s football stadium. That means the FIU Panthers will now play at Pitbull Stadium! The artist will pay the school $1.2 million per year for a five-year deal. It’s the first time a college athletics stadium has been named after a musician, and it happens to be right in Miami. If you know anything about Pitbull, you know Mr. 305 loves Miami.
Daily Did You Know – A new local indie duo is looking to break through the music scene
We had D1do and Bex in studio yesterday to discuss their new single, ‘THiNKiN’ TWiCE’. They talked about pairing up, making the song, and the production of the music video.
Here’s where you should (and should not) swim in Halton
The Halton Region says most of the beaches in the area have REMAINED safe for swimming. If you’re looking to cool down from this hot summer, then you can try heading to a local beach. The Region routinely samples the water to make sure they are safe for visitors. Nine beaches were checked, with seven being determined to be safe for swimming. That includes Milton’s Kelso Beach and their new waterpark. You are cautioned that things can change day-to-day and even hour-to-hour thanks to rainfall and other factors. The rule they have is if you can’t see your feet while standing in waist high water as an adult, don’t go swimming!
Drake Shares 100GB of Unreleased Content Including Collaborations
Some artists will drop a song unannounced. Some will drop albums. Drake, on the other hand, decided to release 100GB of unreleased content. This includes unreleased songs, collaborations, videos, behind-the-scenes stuff, and more. 2024 hasn’t been the BEST year for the Toronto artist, but at least he’s managed to keep himself in the headlines, and this continues to do that. Will you listen to any of the new Drake stuff? Or are you feeling a little burnt out on ol’ Drizzy? Let me know!
GOOD NEWS – Skateboarder Arisa Trew, 14, Wins Gold to Become Australia’s Youngest Medalist
We’ve been talking a lot about the Olympics since the Summer Games kicked off. One of the new additions to the events list this year was skateboarding, and the women’s event was won by a 14-year-old girl named Arisa Trew. The teenager becomes Australia’s youngest medalist ever. Skateboarding is a young person’s sport. Not many people in their 30s and 40s can keep taking those falls, so good on her for getting in young, and now she’s an Olympic Gold Medalist at just 14-years-old… And that’s some good news!
Zac Efron Was Hospitalized After Hitting Bottom of Pool, Ingesting ‘Lots of Water’
Someone needs to always have an eye on Zac Efron. Like, at all times. The actor has a history of near-death experiences, and he added to the list recently when he was hospitalized. Reports came out over the long weekend, saying he was pulled from the pool and rushed to the ER. Turns out, he dove into the pool a little suddenly and struck the bottom. The impact caused him to inhale a bunch of pool water, and he nearly drowned. He’s recovering, he says he’s fine, but that dude needs to be on a leash or something. Years ago, Efron reportedly fell and hit his face on a counter, forcing him to get corrective jaw surgery and changing his face shape. He’s also been in car accidents and gone to rehab. It’s like he’s in the movie Final Destination and he keeps avoiding death. I’m happy for him, but Zac, buddy, slow down.
Stranger Things Prepares to Cast The First Shadow Over Broadway
Netflix’s biggest hit series is closing in on its final season, but that won’t stop Stranger Things-mania. It’s been more than eight years since the first episode aired, and since then, the child actors have grown up, some have gotten married, and they’re still portraying the same 80s kids they were back in 2016. Season five is coming soon, but that’s not the only Stranger Things production that is coming soon… ‘Stranger Things: The First Shadow’ will be heading to Broadway. Casting is already underway. The musical will be a prequel to the Netflix series and will cover how young Henry Creel turned into the villain of the show, Vecna. It’ll hit the stage early next year. Should be fun!
