A pair of Miltonians will be on our televisions over the next few weeks.
Michael Foley will take everything he’s learned inside the velodrome at the Mattamy National Cycling Centre and go for gold in Cycling – Track. He made his Olympic debut in at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 as part of the men’s team pursuit that finished fifth for Canada. It was the country’s best Olympic result in the event since 1932.
A familiar face on the basketball court will be in Paris for Team Canada. Kayla Alexander also made her Olympic debut in Tokyo, where the national team placed ninth. The 33-year-old was a 1st round pick in the WNBA draft in 2013, and played eight seasons in the league before taking her talents overseas.
Other Halton athletes include Will Jones from Aldershot (Sailing), Adam Dong from Burlington (Badminton), Ella Jansen from Burlington (Swimming), and Simon McTavish from Oakville (Canoe/Kayak Sprint).
