The Town of Milton has received its quarterly payment from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG).
Four times a year, the Town receives a payment from OLG for hosting Elements Casino Mohawk. Milton just received $2,156,369. This is the first of four payments over the fiscal year. Since the gaming site opened in August 1999, Milton has received $144,625,058.
These payments to host communities are based on a formula consistently applied across all gaming sites in Ontario using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the hosted site.
“Investing OLG’s profits back into host communities is another example of our government’s continued efforts to strengthen local infrastructure and community programs,” says Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming. “We remain focused on working with our municipal partners to ensure that communities across Ontario have the supports in place to empower their residents to lead active, fulfilling lives and enable local businesses to thrive.”
The Town of Milton uses part of the funding it receives from OLG for the Milton Community Fund Program.
Since 1994, host communities have received more than $2.1 billion in non-tax gaming revenue.
