Within just a few weeks of buying this van, Al Askim found him self busier than he could have imagined!
“We got the van, decals, flyers, and website. Within a few weeks, we started getting a lot of calls.”
The somewhat unexpected burst of business activity meant Askim needed to hire help much sooner than he thought he would.
“I reached out to the YMCA to see if they had any students who needed work,” he recalled. “Which ended up becoming the basis for our business model.”
Since 2015, Askim says he has employed anywhere between 5-10 students each summer. They gain valuable work experience and learn about the importance of quality service and entrepreneurship.

“Helping students – just like I was helped – fund some of their tuition, or the cost of going back in September…It’s sort of like a pay it forward situation,” Askim remembered
“I was so appreciative of the opportunities I was given. My parents were blue collar workers, so I had to take out student loans to cover tuition. Window cleaning literally paid for [my books].”
