Two people have been arrested after breaking into a local business.
On Monday, July 8th, at 10:50 p.m., the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) was called to River Oaks Convenience in Oakville, in response to an active break and enter. When officers arrived, three suspects attempted to flee the area on foot; however, after a short foot pursuit one suspect was taken into custody. A second suspect was found after police searched the area. Stolen cigarettes and lottery tickets were recovered at the scene.
Also located at the scene was a stolen BMW SUV, which investigation determined to have been taken earlier in the evening from a second break and enter at Suntire Auto Service in Oakville. It’s reported the suspects forced entry into the garage area of the business taking the vehicle and an amount of cash from the till.
27-year-old Istvan Fazekas of Etobicoke has been charged with the following:
- Break and Enter (2 Counts)
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000
- Obstruct Police
- Possession of Break and Enter Tools
- Disguise with Intent
- Fail to Comply Release Order
- Fail to Comply Undertaking
20-year-old Sandor Simko of Mississauga has been charged with the following:
- Break and Enter (2 Counts)
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000
- Possession of Break and Enter Tools
- Disguise with Intent
- Fail to Comply Release Order
Fazekas and Simko were both subject to previous release orders at the time of their arrests.
Both have been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Attempts to identify the third suspect in this matter are ongoing.
