The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) says Speers Road has reopened.
Officers received the call at 6:21 a.m. regarding a garbage truck on fire in the eastbound lane of Speers Road. They closed the road between Bronte Road and Third line while Oakville Fire put out the flames and the vehicle was removed.
No injuries have been reported.
The cause of the fire is unknown. There’s no indication the fire was suspicious in nature.
It’s unknown how much damage the fire has cost at this time.

A street in Oakville is closed to traffic this morning due to an ongoing fire and police investigation.
The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) says Speers Road from Bronte Road to Third Line in Oakville is closed to both east and westbound. They say it will take several hours for the investigation to be completed.
Drivers are told to avoid the area.
There are no public safety concerns.
